According to Joe, if they declined to talk about their plans to be intimate with someone in the future, the people interviewing them would threaten to report that they were “in a cult.”

Joe went on to say that he and his brothers felt pressured to answer questions in the right way because they knew that answers they gave would be out there forever. He said on the podcast, “I can definitely speak for all three of us here. I felt the pressure of being like, ‘Well, we have to live these lives because we kind of said it in the paper once.’ It’s in print, so you gotta do it. It’s forever.”

Nick, the youngest of the musical trio, says he feels like the culture around asking young celebrities personal questions has improved since the brothers were just rising to fame.

“I think it’s really a good thing,” Nick said about the way that the industry’s attitude about personal questions has changed. He went on to explain, “Where it would be like so outside of the realm of possibilities or something someone would do to ask at that time a 14-year-old about their sex life.”
