Last week was the week of slow-burning chemistries as Ju-hyeong and Hee-ji exchanged stolen glances, and we saw glimpses of their shared past. However, that’s not all – both Sang-gi and Mun-jeong have some wonderfully moving moments in the episode that balance the tension of the courtroom and the emotions skillfully.

Law and the City Episode 7 Recap
The episode opens with a friend contacting Ju-hyeong about an issue – he had dated a woman in the office who later turned out to be married, and now the husband is spreading rumours around. He refers him to someone else, while Hee-ji is also busy with a ton of different cases. On the other hand, Hyung-min starts an internship program that is extremely well-received at the firm. Chang-won gets appointed to a court-appointed case of a woman pulled into a scam. Meanwhile, Mun-jeong has to take care of a construction case involving unpaid fees, which she is very annoyed with. The others, though, find her annoyance rather amusing!
Anyway, the others are excited to throw a party for the interns, but Ju-hyeong mentions that he has a high school reunion to go to. As Sang-gi gets to know the newbies, Yu-deok tells Chang-won not to pay too much attention to the court-appointed cases since they don’t bring in enough money for the firm. Chang-won immediately protests, but they fall on deaf ears. Chang-won, of course, goes through the files anyway and realises that the court already had all the evidence that they needed, but still charged the innocent woman for a crime that she didn’t commit.

The next day, Hee-ji visits the construction site herself and, along with feeling fearful in the unsafe lifts, she does a great job of assisting with the inspection. Back at the firm, Hee-ji and Chang-won are stumped to see the interns hard at work right before their dinner and rescue them to have a nice meal together. Meanwhile, Ju-hyeong’s school friends are shocked to see him at the reunion, and everyone is immediately very icy with him.
As it turns out, all of them have gone to him with their troubles, so they are thoroughly intimidated by him. It’s a funny twist when one of his friends pokes fun at the other, who mistakenly had an affair with a married woman, and he immediately questions Ju-hyeong’s integrity. As it turns out, the rumour has spread so much that the others knew about it either way.

The others decide to join Ju-hyeong and his friends, immediately teasing him about Hee-ji, remembering that he had a thing for her back in law school. Funnily enough, Ji-seok lets their past relationship slip in front of everyone, leaving him thoroughly embarrassed while Ji-hun shamelessly flirts with her, until Ju-hyeong forces him off. They later walk off together and reminisce about the time that they spent together in Hong Kong. It ends with them on a bus home, and Ju-hyeong holding Hee-ji’s hand.
The next morning, Chang-won goes to court for the phishing case and presents it with conviction, making it clear that his client had no idea that it was a scam and that she herself was scammed by the person. Back at the office, Sang-gi coaches the interns and helps them make corrections and is suddenly joined by Hyung-min. Her sudden arrival leaves him a bit confused, but she insists on joining the class either way. She, surprisingly, proves to everyone that she knows more than most and announces that she, too, is a law school grad.

As the lawyers work tirelessly behind their cases, they also take some time to celebrate the Lunar New Year with their families and friends. Ju-hyeong and Hee-ji, however, end up running into each other going to the office and then grab a bite together. Reminiscing about their pasts once more, she tells him that she was asking him to ask her out on a date back then, but he never said anything. He insists that she must be clearer, and she ends up giving him a peck on the cheek. Ju-hyeong, however, kisses her on the lips instead.
Later, we see the two walking into the office together and running into the others as well. They share a meal together in the break room, happy to be together and watching the snow fall. However, the happiness seems short-lived as the next day, Hyee-ji gets a call from her mother informing her that her father has been arrested.
Law and the City Episode 7 Review

What a wonderfully sweet and romantic episode this was! I found myself utterly charmed by Lee Jong-suk and Mun Ka-young, who share a magnetic chemistry. The court cases in this episode were a little off on the sidelines, but presented a good break in between personal stories. I think the best part in this episode was the wonderful, sometimes cheeky, friendship that the five friends share with each other and even without the romantic angle, their interactions are delightful. I liked the little plotline about Hyung-min; it was a relatable moment. All in all, a very fun episode!
