Matthew Lawrence has an idea for a movie with a late co-star.
The 45-year-old actor worked with the late Robin Williams in the classic 1993 comedy Mrs. Doubtfire. Now, he says he wants to use AI to bring the comedian and actor’s voice back to life for a new project.
Matthew spoke about his hopes to do “something special” with Robin‘s voice at the EW video suite at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday (July 25).

“I would love — now, obviously, with the respect and with the okay from his family — but I would love to do something really special with his voice because I know for a generation, that voice is just so iconic,” Matthew said at the event.
Matthew went on to recall Robin‘s ability to do different voices, including a computer-style voice, which the actor said would be “so cool” to hear used for a modern AI project.
“And it always stuck with me. And then, during his passing, with the AI coming out, I’m like, ‘Man, he’s gotta be the voice of A.I. He’s gotta be the voice in something.’ So yeah, I would love to do that,” Matthew explained to EW.
If you didn’t know, Robin‘s daughter has previously shared her thoughts on people using AI to recreate her father’s voice.
